Just how often do people remember things in pieces? Has anyone been able to recall a full memory, without any gaps?

The first thing I've been able to remember since arriving here... I can see the scene clearly, and I can hear a person talking to me... [Saying things that warm her heart, that seem to soothe a deep aching she wasn't really aware of ( Read more... )

I've remembered at least one thing in full.

And no, I don't know what a "puella magi" is.

[She sighs again, and there's a hint of frustration in it.] Consider yourself lucky, I suppose. I said it to someone else before, but... now I know that remembering only a fragmented memory is much worse than having no memory at all.

I think that depends on the memory. Like, I remember going to archery club once or twice, and I remembered how to shoot a bow. I don't remember any of my clubmates, but that doesn't offset what I do remember.

But doesn't that bother you at all? It must have been something you enjoyed, if you went back to do it more than once, yet you can't remember the people you were able to enjoy it with.

The few memories I do have are full of blank faces, just like you described. The only faces and voices I remember are my own and Masaki's.

Irritating, isn't it?

... If you don't mind me asking, who is Masaki?

My wife. If there's any face I'd want to remember, it's hers.

I see... I'm glad you were able to remember the face of someone so precious to you. And I suppose I can understand how that feels; I'm not sure if I had people who are anywhere near that close to me, but... I would definitely want to remember their names and faces first.

[Well, there is the... longing, perhaps? The strange feeling spreading through her whenever she recalls the single memory she has now. She desperately wants to remember the face of the person who said those things to her, but she's not going to mention that to a complete stranger.]

Hmm. Sounds like a kind of vegetable.

... A vegetable? That's not the first thing I would've thought of...

Or maybe it's a line of Italian designer clothing?

No, it's definitely something a person can be. A job, perhaps...

I haven't remembered anything fully yet; so far it's just been bits and pieces... It gets pretty confusing. I don't remember any people, either. Just shadows, like you said.

Are they all... related, I suppose? It would be quite strange to remember completely unrelated memories one after another...

Mm, most of what I've remembered have been of my childhood. I hope it stays that way -- remembering everything out of order sounds like it would be... really confusing.

It does... especially if there's a drastic change of events between memories.

Mokona remembered a big long time!

Oh? What exactly was this "big long time"?

Mokona and Mokona went for a walk together in the rain.

Yuuko gave us a magical umbrella so we could go out without being seen.

That sounds like a lovely memory. But... why would you need to hide?
