Personally, I think having memories return in dreams makes more sense than remembering them at RANDOM. Then again, very little about our situation makes much SENSE.

I've only regained one small fragment of memory myself, and I was awake at the time.

As we spend hours asleep each night, it's likely that some others will eventually remember while they sleep, since the memories seem to return at random.
