If you liked this post, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind clicking on over to my Blogcritics posting of it here: http://blogcritics.org/archives/2008/04/14/214419.php

It's the same list (just with less pictures and not split up into two posts), I just want to up the traffic the post is getting there.

Also, if you have a Digg account, you can digg it from there, or by clicking here: http://digg.com/television/Top_25_Characters_from_The_Wire

Thanks

I have loved your Top 25. My boyfriend and I discussed our favorites recently, and your top 3 are probably universal... for the reasons stated and more. I only finished the series a few weeks ago, but I think I'll start it over again soon to gain a deeper perspective, now that I am not so emotionally invested in the basic storyline.

I rewatched it as I made the list (getting from season one to midway through season four, I'll finish that season soon). You won't be surprised to learn that a lot of what goes on makes more sense the second time around (when you're no longer trying to figure out who everyone is).

Man this show is great. Have to agree with your number 1 although I probably would have switched Bubbles and Bunk. Although Bunk was funny, he was not as well developed as I would have liked. Bubbles tale on the other hand was aboslutely brilliant. The only sad part about it is how it had to come full circle and the character that wound up taking his place. *sniff*

I think most people would put Bubbs higher on their lists, and I can't criticize the choice. Royo was awesome in the role, but for some reason, he didn't connect with me as much as he did with others (although... still enough for the top ten, so I don't want to discount his impact). I'd talk more about the full circle you hint at, but... see above *sniffle*.

Bunk moved up the list largely because of season five. He would've been higher anyway, because I love seeing the Bunk in any scene he's in, but the way he stood his ground amongst the madness of Jimmy McNulty put his character in perspective. In most shows, he'd be little more than the sidekick, but The Wire made sure not to go that route. Were I to do a top scenes list (and... who am I kidding, I just may do that at a later date, maybe after season five comes out on DVD), I'm sure the Bunk would be all over it.
