394: And This is Why We Translate...

Lots of stuff going on the past few days... but I'm waiting for it all to pan out before I spill the beans.

Actually, I've spent most of the last two days labouring over this translation; my Italian is come-ci come-ca at best (only got to il passato prossimo), so I did this using both the excellent Word-Reference dictionary site and an archaic ( Read more... )

Everything's so intellectual with you. Post some porn, will you?

Kidding. But help a poor, ignorant soul out. Who is this poet? The original? Leopoldi? I know not these Italians of which you speak.

I was just rambling to copperwise about LEOPARDI (*shudders at mispellings*)--and don't lie, Mr. REader of Pirandello (I was actually mentioning his story, "The Soft Touch of Grass" in class today...)

Wiki Giacomo Leopardi. I have to dash; library closing! Message me and maybe I'll rant and rave to you about him in the morning...
Love ya! Bye! *blows kiss, dashes out*

Yeah, yeah, so this cougar guy, or leopard guy, or whatever... Did he write any hit Italian pop love songs of the 50s? I love those!

Pardon me, I have to get back to my cheap porn and beer.

Well, I hope you got a good deal on them!

Actually, yesterday I was reading Auden's "The Platonic Blowjob"... see? Even my porn is literate...

Well, I'm just thinky, is all, and my hobbies and interests ridiculously literate, so sue me! I like my little in-jokes...

Meanwhile, I am now too sick to pontificate on Leopardi... but his story is ridiculously, emo-tastically sad.. Kinda makes ya feel better about your *own* life. *shakes head, keels over*

Okay, I *would* lay down, but I have to finish this Philosophy paper on the moral dilemma faced by parents' who have one child abusing another... I'm resisting exact details in this, because, yanno, it actually happened...
