Those are really good books. The Starkey ones were popular here about the same time but I hate his analysis of women.

Yeah, there has to be something "wrong" with Henry. I am not well versed in psychology and I'm not sure that it's fair to analyse people from the past by our standards but he's just not normal!

If you fancy another fictional look at it, I'd really recommend Wolf Hall.

I'm surprised Catholic school didn't tell you more how much of an EVIL BITCH WHORE Anne Boleyn was. My friend Grace is Catholic and although she recognises the misogyny in focussing on her as a character, the things she says about the reformation are hilarious.

It's so weird, I had an amazing dream about my old history teacher last night - and Fraser was her favourite modern history writer.

I have Wolf Hall on my shelf! I haven't gotten around to reading it yet though.

Yeah, I think my American Catholic school was more interested in telling us about how Martin Luther was a total stupidhead!
