Putting my Christmas holiday to productive use

That is to say, catching up on all the TV I've missed (hence the many Twitter/LJ posts about America's Next Top Model) and trying to make some progress on my numerous half-finished video games. I was doing quite well earlier on Trauma Centre: Second Opinion, until my Wii crashed at the beginning of an operation. Still, better there than halfway ( Read more... )

I ended up using a walkthrough for the last section of the first Layton game, and have just started using one for the second game. I feel dirty but I was getting so fed up of getting NOWHERE, especially with puzzles based on pure tedium (like counting the number of items above a very wiggly line).

I recently returned Trauma Centre to Game because I was about to start cutting bitches...

Oh God, the wiggly line ones are EVIL. I think in nearly every case of those, I just ended up entering numbers at random until I got it right after my first ELEVENTY HUNDRED guesses turned out wrong.

That is the HARDEST PANDORA'S BOX PUZZLE, I think. Do you want some hints? I did it in about 1000 moves, hahahah, but there is a strategy!

Oh God, YES PLEASE. Seriously, anything at all right now would be great. I've followed the three hints the game gives you, and got the rubbish out of the top of the screen, but I can't find a way to get the block out of the bin-space that allows me to get the rubbish in.

(Also, thank you for sparing my poor bruised ego and saying it's the hardest one. That makes me feel somewhat better.)

Okay, when the blue block comes out, the other blocks should look like this:

PPOOG
YPOGG
YY

P =purple etc obviously

Then the blue block should come out easily.

And the yellow block goes into the bin at some stage and stays there almost until the very end.

Good luck! xx

I'm guessing Cleaning Up 2 is another slidey block puzzle y/y? I'm only on puzzle #045ish (they've just got back on the train) but those slidey block ones nearly did for me on Prof Layton I: Automaton Redux.

Yup, another one of those BASTARDS. As if the "Princess Escaping" ones in the first game weren't enough to make me want to take that giant top hat and shove it somewhere deeply impolite.

Still, the second game is lovely, horrid block puzzles aside. The tea-brewing minigame is amazing.
