Stop (stop stop), I'm spinning like a top (top top)

Clearly I can't afford either of these for the foreseeable future, but let's just say I were thinking about getting a new games console: which one of these would you recommend?

Poll Entirely theoretical gaming question

In other news, I've had this song stuck in my head all morning, and I'm damned if I know why.

game boy, poll

DO NOT WASTE A SINGLE PENNY ON A PS3 OMG
WAIT UNTIL THEY DON'T COST YOU 3X MORE THAN A 360 FOR 3X LESS AVAILABLE GAMES

SEETHES WITH INDIGNANT FANBOY RAGE.

Seriously, though, while the hardware is questionable re: staying with you for longer than a year, taking out the £20 3 year insurance on a 360 and having a far wider and deeper gaming catalogue to choose from is better than spending an entra £100-£200 on a PS3 which is, for all intensive purposes, a glorified Blu-Ray DVD player with perhaps five decent titles to its name.

PS. While fanboy indignation is mostly tongue in cheek, I do sincerely believe the 360 is a better console worth more than what you pay for it. The prices are slashed to £120 in some places while the PS3 is hovering between £200-£300. And, like I said, wider gaming catalogue.

Hehe, I knew you'd have something to say about this!

To be honest, as long as it plays Rock Band I'm happy. But I do see the appeal in spending less to ultimately get more, so the Xbox does seem far more appealing on that front.

You've got an Xbox, right? What sort of size hard disk do you think is necessary for a moderately committed gamer?

I bought the 60GB last year, can game anything up to 8 hours a day (... I know, I know, but I haven't been on it for nearly a month due to exam season augh withdrawal) and still have 50GB kicking around in there. It's a comfortable amount though, especially if you like to hoard save files Just In Case. Plus, you pay what, £20 for an extra 40GB? Totally worth it.

The minute you get one I will hit you with a rec list so hard you won't ever need to leave your house again. Hell, I'll start now:

*Condemned
Mass Effect
Gears of War
Tomb Raider: Underworld
***********************BioShock
Prince of Persia
Mirror's Edge
Fallout 3
*Fable II
*Dead Space

* = games that literally I do not know where my life went OMG.

God if I fail to get into Uni, we'll all know why won't we XD

Hahahaha! You are aware that I fail epically at most first-person persective games, right? The minute games went from 2D to 3D, I had to downgrade myself from "serious gamer" to "novice" D:

Also, one of my friends hijacked your Mii while using my Wii on Saturday. I apologise for the WiiSports atrocities that were committed in your name...

Save up for a PS3 if anything, because there's always a chance that they'll port stuff from the 360 (don't a lot of titles see releases on both consoles already anyway) and the Blu-ray is always useful.
Or maybe it's worth getting the 360 now and waiting for the PS3 to come down in price - but I don't foresee that happening any time soon.

Either way it's fucking extortion. I'm content with my Wii. Microsoft have the most developers producing quality games for them (versus the excessive shite that gets put out on the Wii by third parties), but I'd feel guilty buying them all.

Give me Mario Kart (I still need to add you!) and Smash Bros and I'm happy, idk.

Ooh, that is quite srs bsns since I try to be economical and that.

And I know Rock Band's out for Wii, but I've heard it's not really as good as the Xbox/PS3 versions. Though curse you for seeing through this poll right through to the real reasoning!
