Draco ran a hand through his hair in frustration. His father had been very specific about 'making nice' with Blaise no matter how irritated he was with his alleged friend. What had started out three years back with teasing about his father's lover had grown into almost constant teasing. Shuddering, he stepped into the parlour that he'd been directed to, only to find Blaise and Theo already there, playing chess. He had a feeling that Blaise wouldn't leave off the teasing even with Theo there.

Theo looked up and sighed. "No bickering, you two. We leave for Hogwarts soon and you two have been acting like five year olds for weeks now."

Blaise ignored him, moving his piece. "Theo, get your head in the game or quit."

"Like you could ever beat Theo, B," Draco snarked, crossing the room and dropping onto the couch. "He will always kick your arse at chess and we all know it."

"Shut it, you," Blaise retorted hotly. "You're worse than I am so you have no room to talk."

Draco shrugged. "If I spend my time in more worthwhile pursuits like Quidditch, that is my business not yours."

Blaise snickered. "You only play Quidditch because you were told your arse looks brilliant when you are in uniform." He finally looked up from the chessboard, leering. "Not that I disagree, but it is still a silly reason to play."

Only years upon years of learning how to control his reactions kept Draco's jaw from dropping. He wasn't quite sure if Blaise was joking around or not so he felt it best to act unconcerned. A light shrug as he got to his feet and moved towards the doors that led to the practise pitch was all he gave Blaise to work with. Draco knew that, should he dare turn around, Blaise's keen hazel eyes would be watching him closely, lit with that bit of wicked that had warned their fellow Slytherins to watch him closely. He was hoping that a bit of flying in the frigid weather would clear out any and all thoughts that he ought not be having about one of his best mates.

With a snap of his fingers a house elf appeared with his heavy cloak, scarf, hat, gloves, and racing broom. As he bundled up, Draco glanced outside to check if the snow had stopped yet. He knew his mother would have kneazles if he tried to fly while it was snowing. Luck was with him and the first snow of the season had stopped finally. "Have fun with your game," he said drily.

"Have fun freezing that brilliant arse off," Blaise quipped in reply.

Draco rolled his eyes and walked outside, determined to enjoy a bit of flying even if he'd need a dozen charms to unthaw and warm up once he returned inside. Bloody bastard, was all he could think. I could be toasty warm inside if he didn't do his damnest to harass me.

Blaise watched the blond storm out, though he gave Draco points for the nearly perfect act. If it had been anyone else but he and Theo watching the show, Draco would have pulled it off. It had worked out better than he could have hoped. With a self-satisfied smirk, he refocused on the chess board even as he plotted the next 'round' between he and Draco. Whatever he came up with was sure to cause a fair bit of trouble.

Blaise couldn't wait.
