Greg hadn't been sleeping well lately. He wished that Trace would sneak in already. Not that it was truly sneaking since the other four boys in his room weren't dim enough to mention it. At least, not after he thrashed Nott for suggesting that it 'wasn't proper'. He rolled, punching his pillow in frustration. Where was she? He hated not being able to check on her. She'd been having horrid nightmares lately. The door opened with a small 'creak' and he sat up immediately.

She tiptoed across the cold floor and stood at his bedside in barely a moment before he raised his arm up beckoning her in. She climbed in and allowed him to hold her. How often had they slept like this? He always made her feel better. She was sure that he'd protect her, even if that madman Sirius Black was cavorting around the castle. Trust an idiotic Gryff to be the source of all these problems.

Greg tucked her head up on his shoulder and rubbed her back. He knew he didn't need to say anything, that having him hold her was even more soothing than anything he could have said. He turned his head to kiss her brow, mentally renewing the vow he'd made to himself years and years ago. The vow that he'd keep her safe, no matter what he had to do to accomplish that.

Tracey sighed and finally found herself drift off to sleep. The nightmares never came when he was holding her. There was no other place that she was truly safe.
