You could probably ignore them easily enough. I didn't even think about it until you mentioned it.

I've already seen the donation cups at places and soccer moms throwing around pity party copypasta. It is on like Donkey Kong. If I see someone on the street trying to harvest money for them, I'm going to say something. My girlfriend already educated some girls that were selling cookies for AS a while back and from what I understand once they were enlightened they weren't too savvy with knowing where the money was actually going. I intend to do similar when the opportunity presents itself.

I guess it's just not a big thing here. Sprouts had a table with info but no one behind it so I ignored it.

And who is this mysterious girlfriend?

The soccer moms in East Cobb seem to love it. The special education system peddles their mentality and nonsense like no one's business. It actually kind of fucked me up a bit for a while in high school, being around all these teachers who treated me like I was inherently defective and being all condescending and whatnot.

My girlfriend is Rory, my Aina in this pic :X http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/306237_315758248480009_104036726318830_752288_1153812121_n.jpg

My reaction to Autism Speaks and to Jenny McCrazy is just like I have to any other nutjob: I don't give a fuck, pass me a beer.

I'll only acknowledge Autism Speaks when they truly start speaking for autistic people (read: have autistic persons on their board of directors, stop looking for a "cure") and when they stop saying that autistic people are somehow missing (or are) "puzzle pieces".

Well I mean, I feel like I can't just stand there when someone's flapping their jaws about donating to Autism Speaks. If I wasn't seeing active attempts to raise their brand of "awareness" and suck up money I'd just ignore it too. But I've already seen that shit and I'd like to do all I can to try and educate people on why they're better wiping strippers' asses with their money than donating it to Autism Speaks.
