In theory. I haven't tested this theory yet, but.... the heater core is done!

did you have to remove the front seat? I was contemplating a heater core replacement on Ecco, but when my chilton's manual told me I needed to remove the front passenger seat to do it I gave up and sent the car to my mechanic. not that removing seats is HARD as, such, but to have to do that level of disassembly... nuh-uh. (of course the mechanic decided he only needed to FLUSH the heater core, which resulted in it kinda-but-not-really working. I really did need a new heater core methinks. not that that matters now. *sigh*. I miss my Ecco)

I did not remove the front seat, but when my Haynes manual said that I had to remove my passenger side door, I was nearly at the point of sending it to a mechanic also!
