This is such a problem-- I battle it every day. I don't know how it is there, but here the packaging insanity seems to get worse and worse and there's no end. Do you know what I saw in the grocery store the other day? Coconuts, individually shrink-wrapped in plastic. COCONUTS! They're made of WOOD! Also, e.g. cauliflowers, each one pre-wrapped in plastic; you could play nine innings with a cauliflower and you'd still have to cut it up to eat it.

I don't get how petroleum can be so expensive, and plastic can still be cheap as dirt.

Sigh.

I'll never get to zero waste, but I'm always pushing back.

Coconuts individually wrapped!!!! /dies/

Well, here the coconuts aren't individually wrapped yet (as far as I know) but the cauliflower is!! :((( bad bad bad...
& I guess if you want to buy the coconut you have to put it in a plastic bag & have it weighed, & the counter people put cell'o'tape on it so the plastic bag is useless when you get home..

I'm really furious with it all & hate going to malls or such shops...
We're the bloody countryside & things are just 'plastic fantastic' here - it's better in cities where they have a proper farmers' market!!
