You're probably the right person to answer my question, then. Is the iconic version of Alfred E. Neuman a Kelly Freas creation? It certainly looks like his style, but I know how sometimes a pastiche can be mistaken for the real thing if there's work-for-hire involved.

I think Wikipedia's more or less accurate on Alfred's origins: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_E._Neuman

As far as I've heard, Harvey Kurtzman drew inspiration from an older image, and Norman Mingo is usually credited as the artist that refined the Alfred into the character we know and love today.
