Holy outgroup homogeneity bias, Batman!

That article is conflating the sort of mild traditionalism typical of about half the country (concern about harmful overreaching of political correctness and the sort of activism that gets labelled "SJW"; a preference for traditional sexual mores; grammatical sticklerism) with a small minority on the extreme right (those who "truly and sincerely hate us" and believe "liberals...lie about everything, all the time" and believe in a deliberate conspiracy to end civilisation), and also with the kind of irrationality that's orthogonal to the left-right axis (flat-earthism and anti-vax; those people are at least as likely to be left-wing crunchy hippies), and also with old-fashioned class snobbery (which is distinct from the new alt-right, which has significant working-class support) - or rather an extreme caricatured version of it ("They sincerely believe that those of us who went to state schools are sub-human zombies"), and even with people who apparently believe "goodness and decency are not real ( ... )
