Wait, so a three year degree, compressed into two, but students will only pay 20% less?

The education minister needs a calculator.

Depends how it's done - if you get the same amount of teaching/marking/etc, just in two years rather than three, then it's going to cost nearly as much. It just won't cost as much in living expenses to get through it.

The question is - can you squeeze that much learning into two years?

Seems unlikely. My 4 year degree could have been done in 3, if the first year had been jettisoned. But first year was very useful in teaching me how to think and be academic.

Reduce the holidays I guess? Fit another semester in where Easter/Summer holidays used to be. Lecturers will love this idea. But hey, post-Brexit universities probably don't get to do much research anymore anyway.
