On men's clothes it's also a lot easier for us to buy stuff.

I just go into Cellio ask a girl or a gay guy what I need (shirt, pants, jacket, whatever) and they bring me something nice in my size and then I just go to the checkout. It will fit. It will be in fashion. It will be nice.

Girls, man, they have to try everything on, get close to zero help and then have it either go out of fashion or wear out in a season.

Thank you for finding stuff like the story about researchers trying to systematise importance of male vs female characters in films. If only there could be a better outlet for these stories than sciencedaily.com!

Never mind that the "summary" is, in fact, just the first paragraph from the full story. This makes me do a double-take every time I read a sciencedaily.com story, but never mind.

Most of the story is broad word distributions statistics: "male dialogue contained more words related to achievement, death and more swear words than the dialogue scripted for women".

And then, all of a sudden: "the researchers used graph theory to determine how central characters are to the plot of a movie by analyzing the ties and relationships to the other characters within the film".

Wait, what? You just said they studied a thousand films! How did they build these graphs? Not by manual data entry, surely? That's the interesting thing about the paper, and you skipped over it!

Yeah - I wish there were other good sources for the stuff I get from ScienceDaily. If you have any recommendations I'd happily switch my RSS feeds elsewhere!

Pockets are undoubtedly an issue. Buy nothing without pockets. I will make an exception for something meant to be en ensemble, if at least one item of the ensemble has usable pockets. Jackets must always have pockets. When I have them made, I insist on inside pockets as well.

I also agree about technical clothes for outdoor sports. It is it ludicrous that women's jackets are always form-fitting.

I remember having an argument with Rob in which he complained that I never had pockets (for things like lens caps and batteries when we're working). He suggested I should only buy clothes with pockets. I was just FIRE! FLAMES! DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND MAN!? If only that were possible.

Yeah. If it's not a topic you've had to deal with personally then it's really easy not to be aware how awful it is. I hope he's fully educated now :-)
