Interesting. I've heard of Robert Barlow in two of his three claims to fame, as Lovecraft's disciple and as an anthropologist who'd been a student of Kroeber's, but I had never realized they were the same guy.

Telling Sturgeon she has to postpone her referendum because we need to focus on Brexit is about as distorted as logic comes. She is focused on Brexit: that's why she wants the referendum now.

Yeah, they're trying to make it look like logic, but it's clearly a justification after the fact for not wanting to have a referendum.

(I wouldn't have wanted a referendum either, if it hadn't been for Brexit. I'm frankly tired of referendums. But if there's anything can do to stop Brexit hitting Scotland as badly as it's going to, I'm going to vote for it.)

The bookies have Scottish independence at odds on.

For what it's worth.

I'm tempted to put some cash against it so that if it loses I'm not _completely_ bereft.

There might be better bets out there for returns on a No vote.

In a crowded field Sturgeon seems to be the victim of an usually high number of highly unpleasant abusive comments.

I wouldn't say that I was confident Western companies will say "Yes, we're pulling our factories our of your country on the other side of the world and leaving you jobless but it's ok, we'll support a Universal Basic Income in your economy after we've gone"
