My most memorable experience with Swindon was getting off the M4 there and not being able to find anywhere to eat. Is that like Harry Potter?

My memory is that the kids in Harry Potter are very-well fed. There are definitely feasts.

I have lived in Swindon. In almost every respect I can think of it is unlike Harry Potter. You can't even get there from Kings Cross.
