"Why do we all..." well we don't, although physical dvorak keyboards are rare like hens teeth

Presumably not _quite_ as rare as hen's teeth...

We may have to rethink that saying.

Why humans don't have a penis bone? drdoug December 14 2016, 12:20:42 UTC
"we are actually one of the species that comes in below the three minute cut-off where these things come in handy"

Ummmmm ... I'm very hesitant to leap in on this one, because my knowledge of this sensitive subject is somewhat limited and I'm certainly not a researcher in the area, and I would not want to come across (sorry) as boastful. But ... that is so far from my lived experience that it seems ludicrous. Below three minutes, on average? Surely not?

Thank you! Data!

"The average time for each couple (that is, averaged across all the times they had sex) ranged from 33 seconds to 44 minutes. That’s an 80-fold difference. [...] So it’s clear there’s no one “normal” amount of time to have sex. The average (median, technically) across all couples, though, was 5.4 minutes."

That's still on the low side of what I would have expected, but doesn't strain my personal credulity meter at all. I was thinking in terms of mean, rather than median, which would probably be much higher.

But that range! Wow. Humans are highly variable in their experience of sex. That, at least, seems entirely consistent with my lived experience.

Semi-related data point: Humans can't decide on how long to have sex for, but ALL MAMMALS take the same amount of time to pee.

250 million is a lot of people. Rough calc says that if China wanted to reach the average rich world proportion of urban population of 80% then it needs a little more than 300 million to move from rural areas to urban areas. About the population of the USA.

It's a huge undertaking. I think the world after China urbanises and enriches itself and builds all the infrastructure it needs might look very, very different, unimaginably so.
