The new bubble wrap still pops, just not as easily and poppity-poppity as the original. The good thing about it is that it is easy to cut/stab/poke holes in a few places, and then you can push all the air out. Then it can be flattened and put with other #4 plastic bags for recycling.

Frustratingly the research behind this is in an as-yet-unpublished book. All I can find is this blog post: http://blogs.lse.ac.uk/businessreview/2016/12/12/the-big-factors-affecting-life-satisfaction-are-all-non-economic/

One aspect that's particularly surprising is the lack of mention of unemployment. I thought we had pretty good evidence that unemployment makes you really very unhappy (duh), and that even if you find another job, you don't on average bounce back to being as happy as you were before you became unemployed.

I can believe poor mental health is a bigger issue in terms of impact on people's subjective wellbeing. Although I also thought that there was a correlation between socioeconomic status and stability and mental health. I'm not sure we have fully teased out the direction of causality there.

Yeah, I'm sure that socioeconomic status and employment status have effects. I'd like to see more on this!
