The French newspapers have been talking about an explosion in syphilis here lately.

What doctors seem to think is happening is that PreP was introduced a few years ago. It allows gay men to have unprotected sex without risking transmitting HIV. The theory is that this has led to a lot of gay and bisexual men giving up on using condoms because they feel like they are "on the pill."
