I find it hard to be inspired by post-automation utopian visions in a British context given the current problems around the welfare state in britain (the malnutrition spiking, the elderly care crisis, lack of housing, benefit sanctions, demonisation of immigrants)

I don't see the rich tycoons with all the money from the automated industries and the politicians they fund (and the elderly people who lived in a world that was different to this and now just want security) being willing to fund a life of leisure and freedom for the young, somehow.

I think this varies from person to person. I have some quite vivid memories from before I was six.

I can remember some things (colour of bathtub and such) from about age two, verified to be correct by my parents when I mentioned it.

2030? nope apostle_of_eris December 1 2016, 19:27:51 UTC
2030 is as far away as 2000.
The guaranteed way to make a wrong prediction is straight line extrapolation. And misinterpreting one current "trend" makes the guarantee iron clad. The "sharing economy" is a lumpenization. Behind the smoke and mirrors is increasing insecurity and desperation. It's a testimony to the success of the post-Reagan destruction of education that the misnomer "sharing" has gained any traction.
