Aye, I liked that first comment on the political post, 'voters are suckers for competence and unity'. That's very very true. Policy doesn't matter so much as appearing to be competent and unified and a 'safe pair of hands'.

And it's something the Right has always understood, how to march in goosestep with each other... So to speak.

That Hanjin situation is utterly fascinating, especially when you know that there's an artist stuck on one of their ships.
This has all the makings of a cool cyberpunk RPG scenario: extract the artist off the ship, while pirates are making their move to steal the cargo and the security forces on board are preparing to defend...

Oddly, that article made me think of a game scenario, though I thought of a strategy game based round corporate politics / profits.

While my assumption is that my final years will be spent watching society, climate and ecosystems collapse - I would be so gratified if my last years on this planet would be spent seeing all the politicians and corporate leaders who failed to do anything about climate change from at least the 90s onwards being put on trial for crimes against humanity (if they're alive) or being excoriated in histories.

I should have tried harder at "live fast die young". I'm not looking forward to all that. But maybe epically clever tech might save the day... you never know.

But it's hard to be optimistic, and therefore hard to take planning life all that seriously. Mind you, if we manage to solve the issues well enough to have the luxury of show trials - I'll sit back and enjoy with you.

When I saw the word planet in this entry at first I was like "No Man's Sky? :D" then... nope, lol. Got my hopes up.

My youngest kid loves that game. :P
