The potato vs rice article is intriguing though I was a little irked by the assumption that cultures that didn't build monuments were less sophisticated. And describing the potato as sinister was clickbaity.

Ironically, I've seen it seriously claimed that Hitler was not a "real" vegetarian because his reasons for adopting that diet were not moral and ethical, but purely medical. Apparently in some people's minds that doesn't count.

The tax avoidance article reminds me of the Toy Biz tariff case: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toy_Biz,_Inc._v._United_States

In that case, the plaintiff argued that the X-Men were not human because dolls (toy humans) had a higher tariff rate than toys (toy non-humans), and the ruling went in their favor. Naturally, comics fans had some reactions to this. :-)

Excercise vs obesity> maybe it doesn't solve the 'obesity problem'. But it does solve the 'sedentary lifestyle problem' which is a problem independent of obesity, and it's much easier to take up jogging once a week than to stop being obese.
