Very interesting and enlightening articles, especially about the organic pesticides and fire safety tags.

I did a little casual research about organic vs. conventional food. It seems that there are a very few people who find that specific ailments get better if they switch to organic food.

That hymen video was irritating because I had the usual misconceptions about virginity until I read Hanne Blank's Virgin: The Untouched History">, the first book on the subject. Women grow up in approximately the same culture that men do.

I'm in my first office job ever (one with cubicles, at least) and just from my training class, I can't imagine having to sit openly around my coworkers and conducting business. It'd be enormously distracting. Good article on that.

Interesting bit about the Climate Accords, but I have to wonder if more than about 3% of the people in the world actually think that the countries that have signed them will carry out the agreement (or something approximating it, considering that specific numbers and punishments for failure seem not to be specified). I think I'd be willing to bet $10,000 (a significant amount of my total wealth) that the U.S. Congress will not ratify it, and this country is a major contaminator. I'll continue to consider this a Public Relations Sham, TYVM, and continue to be grateful that I'll have no great-grandchildren who will die as a result of it.

is there a good reason why $charity can't print off fire safety labels and glue them on the second-hand sofas?

How would they know which sofas to attach which labels to, or how accurate they were?

Sadly, you're right in those implications.

In a sensibly-administered universe, the charity re-selling the object would either be exempt, or would be allowed to paste-on a label something like: "This object _might_ contain [worst case scenario here] so treat it accordingly". And yes, I sometimes do dream about living in such a universe.
