Oh dear, looks like the Steambox experiment is pretty much doomed to failure then. The PC market is way too driven by performance.

And yowsers, three lead Republican candidates attend a 'kill the gays' rally, and it's not even news?!!

Well, Steam was also rubbish when it launched - I remember loads of complaints about it, and nowadays it basically just works. So it's possible they can drive improvements in performance by making them more public.

(I'll be sticking to Windows for the moment though.)

Like the PC Gaming Master Race needed another format to lord it over. :)

But yes, I'm sure they will improve. As more people use it, developers will have more reason to spend time streamlining their code.

The steamboxes aren't the cheap option though. I really thought their price point would be much lower.

Yeah, they're basically gaming PCs in a nice box.

(My understanding is that drivers are the issue. They need to get nVidia and AMD working on producing better Linux drivers. I'll keep my fingers crossed.)

I think the news aspect of the Republican story is "only three," and I will repost it that way.

Yup. We live in a world of debt, in which people are still wanting high returns on investment without the risk, and it's just not feasible - it leads to bubbles and crashes, and people making money through hiding the dangers.
