I'm more worried about a war between Russia and China.

At some point China will need more resources/food/water. And there's all that lovely rich empty Siberian land just to the north.

Spectacularly bad quote at the end of that Amazon article: "Fewer than 20 percent of Amazon customers are Prime members," Pachter said. "What about the 80 percent who want an Apple TV to stream Netflix?" I don't think that's how those percentages work...

It is well known that everyone is either on Team Apple or Team Amazon.

I'm amused that some of those new laws apply across Britain, some in England and Wales, and some in England only, depending on how the topic is devolved. This will give you some idea of how much fun it can be to live in a country with 50 legislating states.

Oh yes. Devolution definitely complicates things.

Although parallell laws have pretty-much always had to be passed for Scotland. They were just passed in Westminster for a couple of hundred years :-)

I never buy things from Amazon. I haven't since their blunt-force trauma display of power over publishers by delisting *all* the books by publishers reluctant to sell their e-products at Amazon's low price. If I can't buy it somewhere else, I don't buy it. Amazon is dead to me.
