Lorde also shares writing credits with her producer, who's a thirty-something. She apparently went through quite a few songwriters before starting to work with him though, so I suspect it's more of a collaboration than being molded. Plus her mother's a successful poet, which no-doubt has some bearing on things.

I doubt that in Nixon's day "family planning" would be taken to include abortion. I expect both he and his contemporary political opponents were mostly against it.

If this were about contraceptives, and Hobby Lobby and so on, then fair enough, but you've tagged it "abortion".

I'm astonished by the Volkswagen story - I have a tendency to think that German engineers are above that sort of thing. I wonder who knew about it. It's certainly going to affect my next car choice, when the current one finally gives up the ghost.

Yeah, it's really disappointing, and I hope they face legal action over it. It's evidence of corruption at multiple layers of the company.

I have noticed over the last yea-long that 'modern' diesel cars emit far more smoke when wellied (as they are all b/c driven by pillocks) than than the average (oh they were so average) seventies Allegro or Escort.

I did think there were laws against that sort of thing.
