If I'm reading the article on Christianity in Britain correctly it's projecting the trend of British born Christians. It talks a little about Eastern European Catholics bolstering the bums on pews number but the numbers in the charts are British born Christians inheriting the faith of their British ancestors.

It's a curious wording and I wonder why the author has chosen it.

Because it's The Spectator, and what the author _really_ cares about is Tradition.

Ah, the wrong type of Christians.

Possibly it's also because the author wants like-minded people to be alarmed by the rate of decline, and limiting it to British-born Christians provides more alarming figures.
