So Corbyn recognised that some women have requested women-only carriages, and has said he would consult on that going forward, and the media are leaping onto this as signs he is DERANGED AND MISGUIDED AND EVIL?

You know, just a couple of years ago I would have mocked the idea that the British media was as heavily controlled by the State and Special Interest Groups as it was in say, America or Russia. But no longer. Some of the utter bullshit that the press has been printing as fact just staggers my mind over this Corbyn business.

All Corbyn said was that he would discuss the idea with (whisper it) women- we can't have that now, can we? The very idea of us having any right to a view!

The media reaction has not been so much 'hidden' misogyny but very visible misogyny indeed!

I know, how ghastly, actually asking women if they might want a few woman-only carriages.

I would have imagined woman-only carriages, particularly on late night fri/sat trains, would be very welcome. Definitely worth consulting on.

I happen to think it a very bad idea but others may not hold the same view which surely makes it worth discussing?

What would "being the real hugo awards" even mean? Pretty much by definition, it's "awarded as per the regulations of the WSFS" or "you can put 'hugo nominee' on your book and not get sued".

Or maybe it's "whichever awards command the respect of publishers, reviwers, authors and fans"? In which case, I guess, yes, the alfies are realer than the actual hugo awards (for people who've heard of them). But not because they're secret.
