"The choice is yours: Obey me and live, or disobey and die. [...] We can coexist, but only on my terms. You will say you lose your freedom. Freedom is an illusion. All you lose is the emotion of pride. To be dominated by me is not as bad for humankind as to be dominated by others of your species. Your choice is simple."

I've been to Vernon. I drove around the streets lined with industrial warehouses, looking to see where the housing of its population of 92 might be. There's one small cul-de-sac street with tiny bungalow houses right behind the large, impressive city hall. Aside from a few apartments rumored to be kept in some of the warehouses, that's it. Right across the city line (a large arterial street) are the packed precincts of South Central LA.

I understand that Vernon may vie with City of Industry for higest per-capita assaults, and murder. rates in California. As Milton Stevens (for many years a Statistitican for the LAPD) explained it, the actual residents are virtually crime-free, but there's a bar or so where many of the thousand or so workers congregate in the evenings, and with a resident population in the two digits even one death every two years is a remarkably high per-capita rate. Not to mention that one death every year would double the rate.

I do wish we wouldn't get a title like 'women hate their bodies' when they mean a particular woman hates her body (and given her life experience, I can understand why). I don't hate mine over much- it's sort of body shaped and functions passing well.

Yet another example of 'what everyone knows.'

Except that it seems remarkably common.

If it was just one person,I wouldn't have bothered linking to it.

'Dissatisfied' is one thing and I won't get into a discussion about patriarchal assumptions and control mechanisms as I know you know, but 'hatred' is quite another.

A lot of us dislike aspects of our bodies, but it ain't the same thing as hate at all.

I know a bit about hating, truly hating, one's body...........
