Ah, I always wondered why none of the contestants ever laid down in the Crystal dome to block the fans and harvest the tokens at their leisure. Apparently they did, but they were asked to reshoot it.

For reference, this is what the new post formatting looks like in my feed reader:

I generally preferred the explicit bullet points.:-)

Ok, that's multiple people expressed a preference for the old style. I'll have a play with it tonight and set it back!

(Or, more likely, to something different again, to see what people think.)

How's that look now?

It gives me the indentiation of the tags, along with the bigger signifier for "This is a new link" - which strikes me as a reasonable compromise.

I like having the bullets back. Don't know if that's because it's better, or because all change is bad, but things feel better again now.

That article on the Tesla PowerWall is immensly useful. Thank you for it.

I thought it might be :->

To me, it looks like it's not actually much of a gain for most people in the current incarnation.

However - if you live largely off the grid, or in places where there are regular brownouts, then it's probably immensely useful. And every increment they make in price/performance makes it vastly moreso.

Of course, once it's significantly more efficient it makes sense for the power companies to use something similar, but industrial-scale.

Aye - nearly there for some people but not quite. And I'd expect the trajectory to be downwards. Assuming a 2% fall in costs per annum for 5 years and the cost approaches $4k ( ... )

I don't think it's a great investment. But, The Musk Energy Cartel is making it so that more people get in the game. This in turn means we get better systems. I am in the early stages of going off the grid, selling power, and going solar over here. Right now, the technology vs investment is just barely there. However, new systems are in entering the market in the next two years. Honestly, none of that would be happening without them.

Look, Tesla isn't even the best electric car currently possible. But, they are solid in terms of what's commercially available. Still, without them and the struggle to _simply sell the car_ the other auto companies wouldn't be setting up to roll out their own economically feasible versions .

For those, like me, who didn't get this at first: you need to play the sound file.

Ah, thank you! I was wondering what that one was about.

The sound file is how I have always heard it pronounced. I am in the northern United States. How do you pronounce it, then?

It's the last syllable - in the UK is pronounced "zan". The pronunciation in that sound file sounds slightly inebriated to a (my, at least) British ear.
