15 years of working in the gay porn industry has taught me that in males being straight is very, very often an identity much more so than a sexuality. (Obviously not for every straight man, but for a lot of them ( ... )

And this is why the STD research people don't talk about "gay men". They talk about MSM, regardless of identity factors.

I think most of the bisexual community would reject them, because they don't really want to date men in any way shape or form.

I can't speak for the whole community, but I don't think we would. The bi community party line is very much "if you're attracted to more than just one gender that's bi enough for us". Many of us have had unhappy experiences being rejected from communities from not looking gay enough or straight enough, which is why we like a broad, inclusive definition. But ...

they wouldn't want to identify as bisexual in the first place. They want to identify as straight and my opinion is I respect anyone's right to identify as they see fit.

Respecting self-identification is part of the same big thing for us, so yeah, absolutely, if they say they're straight then they're straight. Though if I managed to get talking I might try to get some of the bi community take on things in to the conversation, in case it helped.

Those Men's Rights Activists are hilarious.

The first headline might as well read, 'Scottish Government Will Oppose Any Attempt By The Tories To Do Anything At All Up To And Including Going To The Bathroom'.

It's a bit more complicated than that. An attempt by Westminster to repeal the Human Rights Act is probably going to require the agreement of the Scottish Parliament if it affects Scotland. It's not clear cut, but it seems there is an interesting legal position to be argued.

The simple solution would appear to be for the Tories to present a bill of rights that is essentially superior to the current one, and the scottish Parliament accepts it as a worthy replacement.

....

It could happen!

These next 5 years are going to be very busy ones for the constitutional lawyers, aren't they.

Those Male Rights Activists are indeed hilarious. But I also find them frightening -- the ones who boast of beating their wives or daughters are clearly insane, whether they do it or not.

Someone expessed surprise/doubt that any intelligent woman would marry or continue to be married to a man like that. Not all women (or men) qualify as "intelligent". And not all women (or men) qualify as "sane". (I think the percentage of the population in each of these is probably about equally balanced between men & women.)

That "Be Kind" article -- I could have written that. It's really good advice. Not only in a professional context, but in every context where you meet other people.

Yup. Doesn't always come easy to me, but I think it's vital.
