The greatest program ever written

While in no way belittling David Horne's achievement, after 33 years it was recently surpassed.

Call-out culture would be why I steer clear of certain topics of discussion on Facebook these days.

Me too. Price of being misconstrued is too costly.

I'll tell you the real danger of intermediate goals - or, more practically, tactics to achieve the ultimate goal. It's picking an ineffective intermediate and then accusing everyone who points out that ineffectiveness of being opposed to the ultimate goal. e.g. countering terrorism in the Middle East (laudable ultimate goal) and taking out Saddam Hussein (ineffective intermediate)

I think it's obligatory these days to describe such people as "concern trolls".

There is that. But I'm not thinking about trolls. I mean people who are so entirely wedded to the absolute unquestionable necessity of their ineffectual tactic, that they would rather scratch their heads in bafflement over their opponents' apparent disagreement with the laudable ultimate goal, than listen to what those people had to say about the ineffectiveness of the tactic.

Thus my example. Every time a Bushie said "objectively pro-terrorist" or "Why do they hate America?" that's what they were doing. They weren't trolling to make trouble. They were genuinely nuts.

No, I mean, people who have valid criticisms of the intermediate methods get accused of being concern trolls - because what other motivation could they have for disagreeing with the means to the laudable end?

I wonder which street would become a weekend coach park if Regent Road wasn't any more.

Maybe they could build some actual car parking space? Possibly to go with the new St James Centre?
