For those who are curious, the link poster failed - looks like the security on the live version of AppEngine around thread handling is stronger than it is on the dev version.

Which rather defeats the purpose of the dev version!

The passion thing picks up on the importance of being action-oriented rather than goal-oriented, which is exactly what we used to tell people when I was on the NHS course for people with long-term illnesses. Eg, You can't cause yourself to lose weight, but you can take action to change your diet and be more active. The bit that requires a little mental effort is feeling good about the actions you're taking, rather than the less tangible goal you're chasing.

Now if only the NHS itself could adopt action-led rather than goal-led...

The links are working for me...

Beyond that, dunno if you've seen my Facebook, but my friend just completed a 10k mile walk around Europe raising awareness and speaking out and meeting with European leaders about ending the statute of limitations on Chile sexual abuse cases. The project is called Road to Change. Might be worth having a look if anybody here is interested in knowing more.

Working - but delivered 7 minutes late because I had to fall-back to manually posting them.

And I hadn't - but if you drop a link over...

Sigh!

The stuff on the biological nature of gender identity is hardly anything new- it was being said forty years back when I transitioned.

It's been a very long time since pshrinks thought they had the answers.

I recall my own pshrink saying in the mid seventies that if psychiatry couldn't find an answer, then surgery must.

It did! :o)

Ed Balls is either on crack, or being quoted out of context.

I can certainly see that as an MP, claiming expenses, you need receipts for everything. But otherwise...? We had a roofer fix a few broken tiles the other week, charged us 50 quid and when I asked if he preferred cash or cheque, guess what the reply was...

By handing over cash you are, of course, abetting tax evasion.

Should I really be insisting on paying by cheque?

To be honest, I don't think so. After all, cheques don't make things more or less illegal, they just give more of a trail.

(And I haven't seen my chequebook in years - I do everything electronically nowadays.)
