"stretching from the RBS headquarters at Gogarburn to the Royal Highland Showground" -- looking at a map, that puts it right alongside the airport runway. Not sure that's a good place for residential building...

Also, I don't like the way the author of that piece says 'currently empty fields around Gogarburn'. There's nothing wrong with fields, and that seems like a loaded term. Not that I'm against such a development, I just don't like the subtext of 'Hey, it's just crap there at the moment'.

I don't think I'd like to live next to the airport either.

I have friends living in Cramond, and it can get a bit noisy sometimes!

I remember spending an hour trying to get a photograph of a plane approaching Edinburgh Airport bracketed through the uprights of the causeway to Crammond Island.

Have you ever been to Craigies Farm?

It's a pick your own place with a nice cafe and farm shop.

The flights to and from Edinburgh Airport potter along the valley it overlooks. It's a curious mix of the rural and industrial.

Sadly, it looks like the kind of place which requires driving ability.

Maybe once self-driving cars take over the roads :->

I get the impression that Edinburgh might see some significant development over the next ten years.

We’ve got this development. The rebuild of the St James Centre. The Waverley line opening soon and whatever happens around the approach stations in terms of housing and business development.

I can see congestion charging coming back on to the agenda.

Yeah, Edinburgh's population has increased significantly over the last decade or two. I can definitely see more development on the way.

Maybe even a tram line or two :->

It's boggled me how Stirling has grown over the last decade or so with the council giving permission to build over every 'brown field site'(ie prime farmland) to be had!

Good commute territory, I guess.

Yup. Scotland has been seeing a massive amount of urbanisation (like most of the world) with everyone moving to cities, and those cities growing significantly.

Whilst reading the article about the DPP's new guidance I was referred to an article where I learned that Gwenyth Paltrow recommends that women steam clean their vaginas.

Apparently it is both invigorating and has health giving detoxifying benefits.

I can certainly see how it might liven one up.

She has been castigated in the press for speaking nonsense.

I am reminded of the film Hysteria.

God save us from celebs and their moronic statements!

Which of them was it said that you only need to use one square of paper after using the loo? She was probably steam cleaning there too!

I loved the Twitter exchange between Sturgeon and Davidson. I didn't see if Dugdale responded...

I wonder if having the leaders of three of the main parties in Holyrood makes a difference. Do you think Patrick Harvie and Willie Rennie feel left out?
