Is there a known link between lubrication and socio-economic status?

The squeezed middle does little but complain about the rising cost of KY jelly.

Healthy foods are three times as expensive as unhealthy ones - and the difference is growing channelpenguin October 10 2014, 11:18:51 UTC
No idea where these guys shop.

In 2004 I fed 4/5 people working outdoors in the winter [sailing] on a "prison budget" of £1.65 per person per day. It wasn't super healthy, but it provided WAY more than 1000 kcals!!

Today I eat pretty damned healthy. All veg/fruit/milk/meat/fish/yoghurt/eggs NO cheap starchy fillers AT ALL - and it comes out to about £4.28/day.

Thanks - but that paper does not tell me

1) what they bought
2) where they bought it

unless I have missed something.

Just a couple of ever-so-slightly important things a reader might want to know (even if it was an appendix!). Especially one like me that is heavily refuting the their figures. (the totals for each type).

They may still have drawn a fair conclusion, but without seeing the shopping list and the prices, the whole thing is thrown into doubt, especially when it contradicts with my own direct experience.

They're using the figures used for inflation calculations. So the prices will be mean prices. (It's in the "methods" section) and "buying" (most of) the items that go into the "basket" of foods used to calculate inflation.

Which is... not how real people shop. Especially not real people on a tight budget.

Very excited about the UKIP results.

Clacton looks like it’s gone to form. Well known, respected hard working local MP with pronounced UKIPish views holds seat.

The closeness of the result in Heywood is interesting.

Assuming that Reckless holds his seat that would give a lot of waveringTory MP’s some comfort that they too could be welcomed into the UKIP family and survive.

Looking forward to the General Election I’m still not sure that UKIP will bounce off First Past the Post and not pick up much in the way of seats but I’m less certain than I was six months ago and so I imagine are lots of voters.

I am loving the "Cameron warns voters that if they vote UKIP they'll get Labour" headlines.

I wonder how much they're regretting the AV vote now!

I'm not even sure they see the connection to be honest.

I think for many of them it's a surprise that the electoral system doesn't do what they want it to do. After all, it always has.

My mum was thinking about volunteering to go to Sierra Leone to help out with the Ebola outbreak.
