I have long found it worrying that any mental condition which meant "has gone weird, believes strange stuff" was diagnosed as Schizophrenia, and treated in the same way as the many other conditions so described. Progress towards the (many different) roots of this condition is very good news.

Yeah, I'm fairly sure this is true about numerous conditions. Autism is almost certainly a cluster of different things that present similarly, for instance. (For definitions of "similarly" that vary dramatically, to be honest.)

The clusters are very strange though; J might have got an autism diagnosis just on the basis of the behaviour that everyone found difficult, but his commitment to fluffy blankets was definitely a big part of the picture.

In America "has gone weird, believes strange stuff" doesn't mean Schizophrenia it means you can run for Congress or work at Fox News.

Wow, rent in London is low compared to rent in New York or Paris.

Who knew?

That is surprising, but I wonder if the limits of urban 'London' are defined rather more widely that 'New York' or 'Paris'. We tend to think of 'London' as everything inside the M25 motorway, which is a pretty large area. 'New York' by contrast would generally exclude any parts of the suburbs that were in New Jersey. Does 'Paris' exclude places like St Denis?

That spy app is scary. And what's even scarier are that there are hordes of abusers who genuinely see no problem with something like that, so long as it means they get to hurt their partners. I'll have to let my sister know of this - she always ends up with violent assholes who stalk her. I can't stop her from hooking up with violent assholes, but maybe I can get her to start switching phones whenever one of her relationship's ends.

I agree with you and the reviewer about 'Listen'. I thought it was superb. I was completely gripped for the whole episode. It's the first story this season that I've liked unreservedly, and the best Who episode since the van Gogh one. And Capaldi is wonderfully compelling in his oddness.

I've always kept contraband of all kinds in tampon cases, ever since I was smuggling sweets into school. I assumed (a) that everyone did and (b) that everyone knew it so that it wouldn't actually do for anything more than a cursory check.
