The practical takeaways from that cartoon are:

1) Make an effort to be nice to eligible MOTAS: you might get a date. All others, knock yourself out.

2) Stay awake and outdoors at all times, that way you might stand a chance when the aliens come.

I didn't actually register that as a date. I saw it as "Went out and did fun things together."

Possibly I am odd.

There's a lot more to Playboy than all the stuff it gets a simple-minded bad rap for.
The first issue is famous for two things: Marilyn Monroe and no cover date, since he didn't know if there'd be a second. The second, third, and fourth issues serialized the first-ever publication of Ray Bradbury's Farenheit 451.
