That said, Charles Stross seems to deliver his books to his publisher about a year before publication, and his books are much shorter (probably requiring less work) and also not the kind of book that entire companies' balance sheets rest on, so not requiring precise scheduling. Come to that, I delivered my own first draft of my recent novel to the publisher a year ago, and the second draft in February, and still don't have a publication date, so I don't think an eighteen-month gap for something they want to get *right* is unreasonavle...

On the one hand, the headline is correct. On the other: The Big Issue did not say this; other groups have. Chivers also reveals that the DWP's own publication of this stat leaves it open to interpretation, and the actual number of those who have died due to being classed 'fit to work' is not held by them: the closest one can get is the stat of those who have died and had benefits removed, some of which must be after benefits were removed, as sadly noted in the test cases.
