I would've liked that Mad Men article a lot more if it had skipped all the stuff at the beginning and delved more into the final point. I can see the similarities between what they're purporting to do and sci-fi, even if it doesn't carry all the same trappings. Maybe we need another word for it. Lo-sci-fi?

Some things don't change. 3,000 years on, and Thanet is still a dodgy place to be a foreigner -- it's a UKIP stronghold, and rumour has it that Nigel Farage himself will be standing for South Thanet in next year's election.
