Um, that's just a Hitachi Magic Wand knock off.

That said if it's a good Hitachi Magic Wand knock off it will drive some women batshit insane with pleasure.

As far as I know, you can't buy the Hitachi Magic Wand in the UK.

You can buy awful things that people try to sell as Magic Wands. Occasionally somewhere springs up that offers the real, and then it goes unavailable again. But Hitachi don't sell the real thing over here.

Dunno why (and not going googling from work!)

And that company says they can't sell in the US - so they must have some weird non compete agreement set up because they are using the same third party patents.

You can get them; but they only come with US plugs, so presumably not "official" UK sales, just unofficial imports.

Incidentally US plugs are EXTREMELY ANNOYING. I am contemplating shelling out the money for this, because hey, it comes with a PLUG THAT WILL STAY PLUGGED IN. Ahem.

One of my first projects as a newly minted engineer was a prototype phased array radar for the Navy, exactly the same principle as that light bender chip.

Oh, cool. Did it work well?

I suppose, I left there soon after. It's standard these days, you'll rarely see a rotating antenna anymore.

Mis-read summary of first article as

Bending light with a tiny chimp - a new technique allows a chimp to draw with light.

I'm now imagining a terribly cute baby monkey with a magic wand that produces rainbows.

Me too. :-)

Although I think MLW thinks we already have one.

I wonder if you'd get more dramatic effects on the Coke can/lava encounter if you shook the Coke up first.

And I bet the music for the drone and volcano video is from a game. Am I right?

Soundhound says it's Bad Wings by The Glitch Mob. No idea if it's been used in a game or not, but it's really irritating so it's entirely likely :)

It's also got a hook, but then gets really repetitive.

It's conceivable that so many people have spent so many hours hearing game music that people compose game-style music with no game attached.

The article about the University bridge was pretty surprising -- I had no idea! I go over the Ballard bridge (also mentioned in the article) several times a month.
