Interesting article. And, goddamn do I hate this one:
1. Assume you know why other people do what they do
Not because I fall prey to it myself, but because I see other people applying it all the fucking time and it drives me potty. To the extent that part of me wants to run around hitting people over the head with a mallet while yelling "IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT YOU!"
As a result, it's the hardest one to avoid out of all ten on the list. Because while you might accept it, there's not telling how the people you're interacting with are affected by it. That's the tricky part. Account for yourself? Sure, that's sorted. Then other people come along and bugger the whole thing up.
