Well, technically true - just like they've been being used in filmmaking for the last 16 years...

(Ironically, this comes just as I'm finally abandoning video game technology.)

Picture # 18 is an interesting and comfortable alternative to the iron lung in use at the time. Which weren't always made of iron.

When polio hit Ontario in the 1950s, a hospital janitor in Toronto (who had read an article in a US magazine about iron lungs) put together a plywood box with a vacuum system attached to an air compressor. It worked well enough that his first unit was flown to Colorado so the hospital there could copy it for their patients, until they could buy proper equipment.

The historical temperature graph seems to show a serious decline in global temperature from 6,000 to 4,000 years ago -- when civilization was invented.
