My first smartphone had a keyboard, five years ago.

There hasn't been one available, so far as I can tell, since the HTC Desire Z, in 2010, which was fine for its time, but is now woefully underpowered (and not available anywhere for ages).

I've had friends looking for a keyboard phone for over a year, and buying second-hand phones as there weren't any Android phones available which had one.

My current phone -- Samsung Captivate Glide from November 2011 and my previous phone the Xperia Pro from October 2011.

Not sure either were available in this country but I don't think the Droid range was either.

It is good to know about new keyboard based handsets though.

The Glide wasn't - looks like the Xperia Pro was, but is not currently in production.

As far as I know though the Droid 4 never made it to the UK. I have a feeling the 5 won't either - there seems to be more of a market remaining for them over there. I reeeally don't want to have to wrestle with potentially tricksy American default settings to have an up to date phone...
