I've always wondered how psychopaths/sociopaths do it, they certainly pretend to have empathy, because that's a big part of how they ensnare their victims. And usually their victims are completely taken in.

And I figured, the best liars are the ones who believe in their lies. So if they're able to 'switch on' the empathy parts of their brains almost at will, or at least for the purposes of obtaining their goal - the trust of their victim, this would make sense.

Of course it also means they'll be able to switch on that part of their brain for the purpose of engaging with therapists/psychologists/bail-hearings in order to get their desired outcome, and then switch it back off again once that's achieved.

I have arrived at a solution to the sexual orientation categories thing which works for me, and which I don't forsee changing.
There are three categories:
People I'm interested in, or might be interested in, or might fantasize about, etc.
People for whom I am in category 1. Naturally, one hopes there is a substantial intersection set.
Everyone else.
