I didn't read the whole article about garbage collection in Firefox, but it seems to me that c++11 has pretty much solved that problem with its new pointers: unique_ptr, shared_ptr, and weak_ptr. You don't really need to delete anything these days (except default constructors that you don't want to use).

c++11 is magic.

I can think of a recent literary use of one of those "obsolete" words: "tyromancy" features in 'And Another Thing', Eoin Colfer's continuation of Douglas Adams's Hitchhiker's series. And with exactly the meaning given.
