At this rate you and I and all our friends will be Peers.

Nice to see the ERS getting busy in the run up the 2015 General Election.

In the future we will all be Lords for fifteen minutes.

And yes :->

In ancient Athens, most public offices were selected by lot. It's not a bad idea ( ... )

I'd happily go with election by lot, with 15 year terms, one third elected every five years.

I would like to keep turnover, but I agree that a longer lifespan is a good idea.

It's great that she's standing up and pointing out the flaws in the system.

Which, of course, means that we won't see many more like her.

I’ve seen posters around the Meadows. More and more. There are now some as far as Holyrood.

I’m very touched by the opening line

“Our Friend is

MISSING”

I hope she’s okay. I’m not sure what I can do to help.

Yeah, my friends page has been awash, and I think this is the least I can do.

I wonder how many people vanish in Edinburgh each year.

I'm a bit confused because that police report makes it sound like the most likely option is "she went off to a festival and wanted to spend some time disconnected from Edinburgh people".

I'd like to remind people though that if you do see her then you should report that to the *police* and not to the people looking for her. She may have good reasons to be hiding from them.

I find it very strange to consider that if I packed a suitcase and walked out of my life total strangers would be caught up in hunting for me.

I'd like the think that if I vanished without telling my family or friends I was going somewhere, leaving my passport and mobile phone at home, that people would panic and start looking for me.

My great-grandfather was a consciencious objector in the First World War. He joined up pretty much on day one and worked as a front line stretcher bearer for the duration of the war.

Re woman and movies: What's that, you say? A massive, obvious gap in the market that's currently being badly underserved, which needs a product I happen to have a rather decent track record of making?

How terrible...

(Although, yes, it is terrible that there aren't more woman-led movies. I do tend to look at it and smell opportunity, though...)
