Return Of The Jedi.

You have now lost all nerd street cred possible.

Original shooting title: Revenge of the Jedi. And that was the title of the film when Cronenberg was spoken to. The title wasn't changed to Return of the Jedi until later on - there are even teaser posters with the original title in them. Now massive collectors items, of course.

Yeah.

This is what I get for commenting before clicking on the link.

I do remember the original title. Roddenberry had threatened to sue Lucas because he thought the title was too close to "Wrath Of Khan."

My (black) daughter was looking for an apartment one day. She had seen a "now leasing" sign at a nice looking place and called them. They responded that they had no vacancies.

Having been raised by me, my daughter is equally able to sound "black" or "white", "black" being her default voice. So she waited 5 minutes and called back in her "white" voice. "Why yes, we have vacancies - when would you like to come in and look around?"

So, yeah - racism is alive and well in the USA, have no doubt about it.

Though in this particular case the 'white' resume was freshly loaded, so that might account for some of it. This stuff's regularly tested though: in the UK, CVs with names that are likely to be non-white get about a third less interviews.

I was just talking to a friend about this recently- she had a lot of trouble getting a job, and strongly suspects that it is because she has an African surname.

Yeah - I was assuming rubbishness until I saw it. Now I'm tempted!

I'm not sure what it says about Americans that they would love to transfer over to a legal system that started out as a parody on their society -- but it's not good.

I'm hoping they weren't being entirely serious...

It's almost certainly a joke petition, akin to this one proposing that the White House erect a statue of Master Chief SPARTAN John-117 in the Rose Garden.

-- Steve'd sign that one, actually, if he were a USAian.
