A minor annoyance for me about the article is that while I don't care if it inconveniences bigots, I think it's normally unfair to describe people as "jewish" if they're "jewish under jewish law" but wouldn't be considered Jewish otherwise.
It's a bit complicated, because if you're talking about being X, in terms of being discriminated against, it's natural to describe the solidarity in terms of how the bigoted people would judge (eg. Obama is half-black half-white, but in terms of breaking the colour barrier, he probably faced as much discrimination as if he'd been all black, but may or may not be equally connected to the cultural experience of one side of the other).
So this case is sort of both. In terms of his previous organisation, he's Jewish in the sense of "someone they would have hated". But in terms of self-identity, someone with that ancestry is Jewish if he wants to be, but wouldn't have to be.

"Food and exercise are not matter and anti-matter." - I love this article and wish I could staple it to quite a lot of people's foreheads. Though then they'd have trouble reading it.
Finally, white terrorists are freedom fighters, not terrorists. As are the non-white terrorists the US approves of. /cynic
